CAVES DRACH

Located on the east coast of the island we find this wonder of nature in the shape of caves that also holds the greatest underground lake in Europe. Located in the turistic locality of Porto Cristo, underground, 25m deep, are these fantastic caves holding the largest underground lake in Europe discovered so far.The effect of the water of the Mediterranean sea seeping over the centuries by the subsoil of limestone that covers it, has led to the creation of these caves and shaping each of its cavities.During the tour to the caves which takes about 70 minutes, we can enjoy four interconnected rooms: la cueva Blanca, la cueva de los franceses, la Negra and la cueva de Luís Salvador that have a total length of 2400m.Throughout the caves we can enjoy wonderful formations of stalactites and stalagmites of strange shapes and large pillars and canvases. These stunning formations with the effects of light and color takes the visitor to an unreal world.
There are also days when live classical concerts are held in the cave, which you can enjoy from a small boat. Highly recommended!
